Freight Forwarding The content of this thesis is a treatise on the issue of freight forwarding contract conclusion as well as on the topic of freight forwarding in general, namely in the context of Czech laws together with the laws of Germany and Austria. The thesis is divided into five chapters, whereas the author emphasizes, besides the comparison of the current and the previous legislations the clarification of basic terms of the law of transport and conceives the text as an elementary insight into an often overlooked issue. Demonstrated on the historical context, outlined in chapter two of the thesis, is the rather dynamic evolution of the branch as well as the set back of its promising beginnings in our countries caused by the installment of the totalitarian regime in the late 40s of the last century. Prevailing in the following legislative excursion, contained in the third chapter, is beside the aforementioned comparison, a pure analysis of the rights and obligations of the forwarding contract parties, means of their securing as well as of the alternative liability regimes, when included is also a brief description of the related types of contracts and the model transport documents used in the freight forwarding business branch. Maritime container transport between China and Europe related to the company DB Schenker.

The goal of this diploma thesis is to define the maritime container transport and some of the important aspects, which are closely related to it. The next goal is to describe the single steps of the maritime container transport (LCL) from port in Hong Kong, to compare import of LCL consignment from port in Hong Kong or port in Nansha and to decide which of these option is better for the customer in Czech republic, speaking of time and cost view. This goal is shown on the specific business case in DB Schenker company.

Customer service in logistics and the company Damco

This bachelor thesis is about getting to know the field of logistics and the customer servise in it and in the company Damco Hungary Ltd. The theoretical part contains the definition of logistics, deals with the layers of logistics and pays special attantion to freight forwarding. After that, comes the problematice of customer service. In the following chapters we will get to the practical part, where I presents the projects of Damco. The goal of these projects was to change the corporate culture, which places the customer first. The analysed surveys of customer satisfaction, in this thesis, were conducted during the restructuring of the firm. The goal of these surveys is to get a general overview of the state of relationship between Damco and its customers and to suggest solutions to the problems.

Rail transportation as an alternative to maritime transport for freight forwarding company

This thesis addresses various concerns of maritime and rail transport of goods between East Asia and the Czech Republic. Its conceptual part outlines the present situation of sea freight transportation with the emphasis on the container use. Furthermore, the thesis describes the rail infrastructure between East Asia and Europe. In the how-to part, the author describes working procedures of an actual freight forwarding company carrying out an import shipment from China into the Czech Republic, utilising ocean and rail carriers. The last part of the thesis contains a summary of the main differences when employing various types of transport, and of their comparison based on the time of the shipment and on its cost.

The role of freight forwarding company arranging LCL export shipment to USA

This diploma thesis describes ocean freight LCL export shipment from the Czech republic to USA. Freight forwarder not only arranges the transportation, he can also offer complementary services like warehousing, packing or customs clearance of shipment. After definition of freight forwarding I described current situation on the ocean freight transportation market, especially infrastrucuture and means of transportation. There are more strict rules for shipments imported to USA. In cooperation with customs declaration I tried to describe all the steps, that are necessary to start arranging export shipment. The last part of diploma thesis describes specific business case of arranging LCL export shipment to USA.

The aim of this thesis is the analysis of dispatch services and groupage services, which provide transportation of unit shipments. In today's global world, transportation of goods is still very important and its importance rise because of rising of international business, therefore, it is important to mention national and international legal conditions of providing groupage services. Further I am describing types of transportation, by which can be groupage service provided, and also the analysis of the groupage service process. No less important is also market research of international groupage service and companies, which provide this service.

Analysis of Logistics Processes in the Firm

This thesis solves the problem of distribution of costs between consignments of charter trucks in the forwarding company. It focuses on issues in the field of international less than truck transportations. The goal is to create a new algorithm that will be used in practice. Solving of the problem is based on the algorithm that is used in the forwarding company. The created algorithm takes into account more aspects which are necessary for the correct calculation. The data is processed by using Microsoft Excel. The solution enables the company to view how consignments are profitable or unprofitable. Through the analysis and comparison of results of the case study was found that in present practice the management makes bad decisions because of erroneous calculations. Based on the analysis it is possible to compare the results of divided costs. The algorithm and its results would allow the company to make right decisions especially in trade department of the company. The contribution of this thesis is the application of the new calculation method into practice.

Forwarder's role in international trade

The bachelor thesis presents an integral overview of the forwarding branch. First of all there are described the services provided by the forwarder and reasons for using them. An overview of the legislative framework of the forwarding branch follows. Afterwards the most important professional associations (FIATA and SSL) are presented and the possible ways of segmentation and characterization of the forwarding companies are outlined. In the second part of the thesis is the theoretic knowledge integrated into the practice of the company DHL Global Forwarding. The present development of the forwarder market in naval shipping is analysed and it is described the organization of import and also export cases.
